Overview


  • Adapt the UW Farm to a more innovative, resilient, sustainable food structure in the face of climate change impacts with a modified north-wall high tunnel --- a USDA-approved method for season extension and food waste reduction
  • Produce an estimated additional 4,000 pounds of produce per year for the student body and community
  • Create an indoor-outdoor community educational space that supports instruction, research, and the study of innovative practices through the demonstration of new technology; 
  • Support campus efforts towards action VI of the UW Sustainability Action Plan,involving a target that 35% of campus food is from local sources by 2025
  • ‍Provide undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to shadow the project delivery process
  • Design and construct a single story 2,100 square foot modern solar-powered high tunnel structure with a sustainable stormwater catchment system and solar array on the UW Farm
